Dr. Luke Momper focuses on adult and pediatric conditions of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. This includes degenerative conditions, spinal deformity, spine trauma, tumors of the spine, and other sports-related spine injuries. He also treats general orthopedic trauma injuries, fractures, and sports-related injuries.
Dr. Momper provides expertise in motion-preserving spine surgery including cervical and lumbar disc replacement as well as minimally invasive fusion and non-fusion procedures. He believes a well-balanced approach towards surgical decision making, recognizing that each patient is unique in many ways, including phase of life, activity level, and physical health. He utilizes a shared-decision making approach toward determining the right method of patient care or surgery for the right pathology at the right time. Dr. Momper takes a multidisciplinary approach to all spinal pathology and prefers to work alongside the patient’s primary care providers, physical therapy teams, chiropractors, pain management physicians and other specialty providers to ensure short-term and long-term patient success.
Dr. Momper completed his undergraduate studies at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. He received his medical training at the Indiana University School of Medicine before completing his orthopedic residency at Saint Louis University. After residency, Dr. Momper completed a fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at the University of Wisconsin. He was awarded Achievement in Research Awards during residency and fellowship training for research into modeling and predicting patient outcomes in various settings of orthopedic surgery.
As a life-long endurance athlete, competing as cyclist on the collegiate, national, and international levels, he was drawn to a career in orthopedics through his fair share of injuries. Working with his orthopedic providers had very lasting impacts, translating the technical and analytical skills from one passion to another. Outside of the office, Dr. Momper is an avid cyclist and runner. During his down time, he enjoys cooking, hiking, and cheering on the Indiana Hoosiers.
