Custom Splinting

Splinting protects and stabilizes the body to allow for healing during the rehab process. We make custom splint orthosis for upper extremities on-site.

Splinting helps protect and stabilize the body to allow for healing during the rehabilitation process. Rather than purchasing a generic splint from a drugstore, which can cause rubbing or irritation, custom splints are created and shaped using thermoplastic material that are heated and then formed and shaped around the hand, wrist and elbow. These custom splints allow for more comfort and precise fit to protect the injured tissue, allowing the patient to heal and continue with their daily activities, whatever they may be.

There are three types of custom splints – static, dynamic and static progressive splints. Each are used for a specific type of healing, whether the patient needs to protect and position, aligning stiff joints or stretching a tight joint. Depending on the patient’s diagnosis and goals, a specific type of custom splinting is recommended. We make custom splint orthosis for upper extremities on-site.
