Sean Calloway

Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Sean Calloway is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive procedures of the shoulder and knee. He graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, where he received his undergraduate degree in Pre-Professional Studies and Anthropology. Dr. Calloway obtained his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency at the University of Tennessee/Campbell Clinic and served as Assistant Team Physician for several teams, including the Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) and Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A Baseball). Dr. Calloway completed his Orthopaedic Sports Medicine fellowship training at Kerlan-Jobe Institute – Santa Monica Orthopaedic Group in Santa Monica, California. While there he served as Assistant Team Physician for several programs, including USA Men’s and Women’s National Soccer programs. He continues to work with the United States Soccer Federation and travels internationally with the USA youth national soccer teams.

Dr. Calloway’s approach to patient care is to return patients, regardless of age, to a satisfactory level of function. He focuses on a patient-centered treatment plan, providing a holistic approach to the patient to fix the mechanical problem of the body, as well as provide support to get them through the challenge of returning to sport.

After experiencing an injury playing flag football during his first year of medical school, and ACL reconstruction surgery with Dr. Art Rettig, one of Forté’s founding physicians, Dr. Calloway was led to a career in orthopedic surgery. He was intrigued by the mechanics of surgery and appreciated the time and effort that was put toward his recovery through clinic follow-up and physical therapy. After going through that process and recovering fully to return to playing soccer, Dr. Calloway wanted to be able to provide those types of treatments for his own future patients.

In his free time, Dr. Calloway enjoys spending time with his wife Megan and their two young children. This involves going to different weekend sporting events or sitting down for their favorite sushi dinner. He loves to travel as a family, especially internationally, playing soccer and being active as much as possible. Admittedly, his one addiction is Notre Dame football.

My goal is to provide holistic care to the patient in order to "fix" the mechanical problem of the body, as well as provide support in order to get them through the sometimes challenging emotional/mental hurdles of recovery.
