Nearly 40 years ago, Dr. Thomas A. Brady saw a need for a dedicated sports medicine clinic in Indianapolis.
Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, known today for the comprehensive, specialized care it provides patients of all ages, opened its doors in 1983 as a small sports medicine clinic for high school athletes. Founded by Dr. Thomas A Brady, the father of Central Indiana sports medicine, Forté originally operated out of IU Health Methodist Hospital in downtown Indianapolis.
Under Brady’s guiding influence, the independent, physician-owned orthopedic surgical practice grew, adding a variety of sub-specialists and moving to Carmel in 1995. Its patient reach also expanded to include everyone from the high school athlete to the grandparent trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Forté’s committed team of physicians are also engaged in the communities they serve, providing highly specialized orthopedic care to schools, clubs and organizations across Central Indiana, as well as to high-performing teams such as the Indianapolis Colts, Purdue University and Butler University.
In Spring 2022, Forté relocated its headquarters to the newly opened Franciscan Health Orthopedic Hospital, located at 106th and Illinois streets. The Carmel clinic is currently one of five locations serving patients from across Indiana, with 29 physicians and approximately 250 staff members dedicated to providing patients with exceptional treatment outcomes and a return to active living.
